Board Member Application

Thank you for your interest in serving as a member of the Board of Directors of Work of Art.  Serving on the board is a rewarding experience and an opportunity for professional growth.  Completing this form will help you understand the skills and time/resource commitments of this leadership position.

Applications are used by Work of Art to identify and evaluate potential board candidates.  This committee will interview potential board members and make recommendations to the full board of director.

Board of Directors Job Description

​

• Serves a minimum of 1 two-year term on the Board. Eligible to serve 2 two-year terms.

• Attends board meetings and important related meetings on a regular basis.  The Full Board of Directors meet the 3rd Monday of every month at 6:00 pm at 1717 E. Main Street (Capital One Building).  Meetings last 1 - 1.5 hours.

• Attends events (1 per month)

• Volunteer at special events, as required

• Participate in fundraising efforts

• Prepare for meetings by reviewing notes and reports

• Listen well and be thoughtful in considering issues

• Get to know other directors and build a collegial working relationship that contributes to consensus

• Provide strategic leadership

• Be knowledgeable about the organization's values, mission, programs and performance

• Be an ambassador for the organization and promote its work in the community

• Ensure the organization's financial viability and sustainability

• Develop policy frameworks
